Since the beginning of the nineties, the age of mobility has tremendously changed our way of living and working with its overwhelming mobile devices invasion. Mobile phone, Portable media player, Smartphone, Personal digital assistant, Pocket game console, Ultra-Mobile PC, Mobile television are in all our pockets. Billions of them. And each day, more and more new ones.
Converged devices will reduce the number of devices we’ll carry with us thus increase the number of functionalities. It is often said that the future of Internet will be mobile, due to the ubiquitous use of mobile devices. This is where Acapela’s Mobility Speech Solutions step in.
There is a real user interface challenge in those miraculously concentrated pieces of high-tech and speech is a way of unleashing the possibilities of their tiny screens and buttons.
Embedded or hosted, there are many ways of making a true speech user experience out of those handheld – or even smaller – devices. An then more: the convergence of the devices with location based services, from pedestrian navigation to e-tourism, will turn them again into something just impossible to do without speech, and thereby multiplying the need for audio-content and user-friendly interfaces.
Acapela is constantly optimising its core technology with all of this in mind: low footprint, low CPU, flexible APIs, mobile operating system support, etc. are part of the standard requirements of our mobile software behaviour. And again the number of mobile speech applications are ever growing: speech-enabled user interfaces, automated audio content providing, voice-guided navigation, proof-reading, command and control, etc.
