Dolphin chooses Acapela TTS for Pocket Hal.

January 10th, 2006

Dolphin's latest Pocket Hal screen reader for PDAs will be formally released for the US market at the forthcoming ATIA Conference in Orlando, Florida, 18th - 21st January 2006. Developed so that blind and low vision computer users can have access to the same levels of technology, at the same regular prices, as that enjoyed by their sighted colleagues, Pocket Hal now comes with the Acapela TTS engine, offering high quality and responsive, natural sounding speech. "Dolphin has an international reputation for innovation, reliability and customer satisfaction. We invest heavily in new product development, so that our customers have the best possible products and maximum product choice," said Steve Hawkes, Marketing Manager for Dolphin. "In many respects our products are judged by the quality of the speech output generated by the TTS engine, therefore, we need to offer a range of good quality and reliable speech synthesizers. We do offer our own high quality synthesizer with all of our products, however, many people prefer alternative human sounding synthesizers. The Acapela TTS engine offers this to our customers."

Dolphin produces a range of software solutions for blind and low vision computer users, ranging from text reading software to full screen readers and combined screen readers and magnifiers. The Acapela TTS engine is now packaged with many of Dolphin's products in many markets.

The choice of Acapela text to speech by Dolphin confirms once again the leading position of Acapela in the accessibility market.
